There are potentially more than 30 marine mammal species (cetaceans and dugong) in the country occupying a variety of habitats. Marine mammals are some of the most widespread species in Philippine waters. However, human-caused problems in the marine environment have resulted in the decline of marine mammal populations, many of which have become threatened. Marine mammals have become victims of harvesting, poaching, by-catch, pollution, habitat degradation, disturbance, prey depletion, and even climate change.

Redlist Status of Marine Mammals in the Philippines This book is the output of the Red List assessment for marine mammal populations in the Philippines in August 2009 and updated as of May 2013. The book contains a comprehensive and up-to-date account of research work on the ecology, distribution, threats, and conservation status of all the marine mammals in the Philippines.

The Aquatic Marine Wildlife Rescue and Response Manual on Marine Mammals The Aquatic Marine Wildlife Rescue and Response Manual on Marine Mammals is useful for coastal communities and local governments, practitioners in coastal resource management, marine protected areas (MPA), and MPA networks by providing protocols on the rescue and release marine mammals back in the wild where they can continue to make significant contributions to the health of the marine ecosystem.

This poster serves as an easy guide to ensure the response is carried out appropriately for various situations in the field.
